Search Engine Optimization – PageRank PR(E)


Most people who create websites take a close look at PageRank and its importance for SEO. The world is controlled by Google right now (the World Wide Web anyway) and PageRank is actually a term created by Google.

Many people have spent an incredible amount of time trying to find a formula that is used to calculate PageRank and some believe they have it pretty well figured out. In general terms, PageRank is an analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical value to each type of hyperlinked element in a document, specifically on the World Wide Web. The reason PageRanking exists is to assign an importance value or PageRank to the document being evaluated. The element is denoted as E, and the PageRank acronym is denoted PR, hence PR (E)

The PageRank Assumption: “The assumption that all outgoing links on a web page are followed by a random surfer in a uniform and random manner is not realistic. In reality, links can be classified into different groups, some of which are rare. once followed (for example, disclaimer links).

These “internal links” are known to be less trustworthy and more self-promotional than “external links”, but often carry the same weight. Attempts have been made to assign link weights based on IR similarity measures, but these are not widely used.”
