Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a region of France that produces some of the finest and most famous red, white and dessert wines in the world. The great red wines of Bordeaux come from the Medoc, Graves, Saint-Emilion and Pomerol; dry white wines mainly from Graves; and dessert wines from Sauternes, Barsac and Sainte-Croix-du-Mont.

Red Bordeaux wines are almost always blends that include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, sometimes with small amounts of Malbec and Petit Verdot. Bordeaux white and dessert wines are mainly made up of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Many of the world’s most spectacular and sought-after wines come from this region, including Chateaux Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild, Petrus, Cheval Blanc, Haut-Brion, Latour, d’Yquem, etc.

With 57 appellations, more than 9,000 wine-producing castles and 13,000 winegrowers in the Bordeaux region, you can find sophisticated Bordeaux wines, refreshing wines, aged wines and young wines. Although high quality Bordeaux wines deserve the highest prices they have, there is virtually an infinite selection of Bordeaux wines in all price categories. Some of the lower priced Bordeaux wines are of excellent quality. If you like red wines, the Bordeaux hen can be a great choice.
