Budapest Airport
Budapest airport is located in the city of Budapest, Hungary. Previously known as Budapest Ferihegy International Airport, Budapest Ferenc Liszt Airport serves the Hungarian capital city. The airport has been a major hub for international travel since the late 20th century. In the modern day, it serves international flights to over 50 cities in Europe and the Middle East.
Taxis are an inexpensive way to get to Budapest. Budapest airport has an official partner, Fotaxi, which employs trained drivers. The company accepts credit cards, but it is still advisable to pay in Hungarian Forints. You can find Fotaxi in Terminals 2A and 2B. You can also find taxi stands in front of the terminals.
The closest train station is Ferihegy railway station, which is located just outside of Terminal 2. From here, you can take trains to the city center. You can also catch a bus to the city center. If you’re arriving from a different part of the city, try to take the 100E Airport bus instead.
Budapest Airport was initially intended to serve both military and civil needs. The first phase of construction was completed in 1943 and was overseen by Karoly David Jr. The airport’s military facilities were completed more quickly than the civil side. However, the Second World War caused much damage to many of the buildings. In 1956, the Hungarian government decided to build an airport specifically for civil use. In the same year, the first commercial flight landed there.
Budapest Airport Information
The Budapest Airport has several bus services. One way bus tickets cost 350 HUF (about US$1) and can be purchased at the ticket machines inside the terminal. The bus will take about 25 minutes to reach Budapest. The bus can be slow at times, however, so be prepared for delays. You may want to plan ahead to travel to Budapest and purchase travel cards before you leave the airport.
When arriving in Budapest, it’s important to know where to go to reach the city center. There are no direct train routes, but there are plenty of buses that will take you to the city center. You’ll need to take the bus, which runs every 30 minutes between 4 a.m. and midnight. Ticket prices are approximately ninety-eight euros.
Budapest airport has two terminals. Terminal 2A and 2B. The latter is currently under reconstruction and expansion. The new area 2C is a new addition and will include shops, restaurants and a tax-free shop. In addition to all these facilities, Budapest airport offers a wide range of international flights, including transatlantic flights to Toronto.
Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is located in northern Hungary. It is accessible by car and bus, with the 100E Airport Bus dropping off passengers in front of Terminal B. Both terminals are connected by a shared space. Both have shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and other amenities that will make your travel experience enjoyable.
