Colin’s Jeans Brand Story

The story of Colin’s made-to-measure jeans began in 1983 when a Turkish businessman Nurettin Eroglu and his four brothers established a small clothing factory called “Eroglu Holding”. Originally, the factory produced coats and down jackets, but in 1986 the first jeans were made there. That year the trademark “Kulis” was introduced. Production grew and by 1992 the company was making 1,500 pairs of jeans a day. That year, the brand was renamed “Colin’s Jeans”. The first sewing factory was opened, occupying an area of 10,000 square kilometers.

In 1993 the company begins to export its jeans abroad. Colin’s jeans are currently sold in the US, Western and Eastern Europe, Russia and the Middle East.

The Colin’s Jeans brand has chosen the right marketing strategy from the beginning. Unlike other Turkish denim manufacturers, the Colin’s Jeans brand did not try to copy jeans models produced by established companies around the world. Instead, the brand made good quality cheap clothing and advertised its own brand. This policy contributed to the success of the brand throughout the world.

By the end of the 1990s, Colin’s Jeans already had 11 stores in Turkey and 6 stores abroad. The brand also introduced a new, more expensive line of denim called “Loft.” In 1997 the Head Office and the Marka&Marka shopping center were opened in Istanbul. Based on the design, Marka&Marka Eroglu began production for the world’s leading custom jean manufacturers: Levi’s, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, Next, Polo, GAP, Ralph Lauren, Lee Cooper, Matalan and Liz Clairbone. In 1998, a factory covering an area of 35,000 square kilometers was opened, followed by the largest denim clothing factory in Europe opened in 2003 and occupying an area of 45,000 square kilometers, capable of producing 17 million garments per year. In 2005, Eroglu Company Group bought one of Europe’s largest jeans brands “Big Star”, strengthening its positions in world markets.

Today the company is represented in 33 countries and has more than 24,000 employees. The brand produces clothes for men, women and children and each season presents more than 2000 personalized jeans models for the new collection, following the latest world fashion trends. Colin’s represents a complete cycle of production, including preliminary design of jean models, construction, grading of curves, sewing of garment pieces, packaging and delivery of ready-to-wear products to customers. The most advanced processing and dyeing technologies are used in the Colin’s Jeans factory.

The product range includes jeans, denim jackets, shirts, skirts, vests, dresses, shorts, overalls, as well as knitwear and cotton such as blouses, T-shirts, sweaters, dressing gowns. Colin’s also continues to manufacture outerwear, coats and jackets. Children’s clothing and various accessories also belong to the company’s product palette.

The brand now has 300 stores in Turkey and more than 1,000 abroad, thus becoming a legitimate competitor to the world’s leading denim brands.
