Hot legs at night

For those of you who have had trouble falling asleep due to hot legs at night, you may not even know the cause. The most basic and underlying cause of any body heat emulation is inflammation. But what, you are wondering now, is what is the cause of the inflammation. To help you with that burning sensation in your legs, read on for two helpful tips that have helped me a lot.

Growing up, I suffered from the symptoms of hot legs at night and the burning sensation often kept me awake for hours. I knew from my own research that it was most likely caused by inflammation. However, it wasn’t until college when my Health Ecology professor told me that over 70% of all Americans face an ongoing Candida infection that I began to get a better idea of what was happening in my body. I have been dealing with yeast and Candida my entire life and I want to share with you the information I have collected over the years! I know how horrible and exhausting it can be to have hot legs at night, so here are some tips on how to fix the problem.

Tip # 1: I know you are tired from lack of sleep, believe me I know! The only true way to kill Candida will take some time, the time your body needs to heal itself. For a quick fix and a good night’s sleep, take Aleve or Motrin (any over-the-counter anti-inflammatory pill) and place a cool, damp washcloth on each leg. It works; I have done it many times!

Tip # 2: Now that we have a good night’s sleep under your belt, let’s talk about a long-term treatment to soothe those legs at night. We know the problem is a yeast infection and Candida overgrowth, so how do we kill these microorganisms? The fastest and most effective way to do this is to cut off the food supply to the bacteria. Simply put, a yeast organism eats simple sugar that it consumes in the form of soda, candy, starch, bread, pasta, and any simple or complex carbohydrates. When a yeast colony receives enough nutrients through its diet, it will turn into full-blown Candida and start getting hot legs at night.

Tip # 3: The reason Candida is always worse at night has to do with the interplay of hormone release during your sleep cycle. To kill Candida, you will need to get into a state of ketosis for at least 3 days in a row. When your body enters ketosis, it uses fatty acids for fuel instead of the usual carbohydrates. This will eliminate the Candida fuel source and kill it. To get into ketosis, you need to limit your diet to 30 carbs per day and no more than 5 at a time (hence lots of snacking). Eat lots of vegetables, meat, fish, and some cheese. If done correctly, it will take about a day and a half to get you into a state of ketosis.

Tip # 4: Remember to drink lots of water! By drinking more than a gallon of water a day, you will help with the elimination of yeast colonies. Water is a universal solvent and drinking enough of it will literally start to flush out all of the yeast in your body.
