What to bring and wear to a water/amusement park

To help you figure out what to wear and what to bring with you to the different parks, I’ve compiled a list to help you. Depending on the type of park you go to, what you need and should wear will sometimes vary.

Especially for both types of parks, you’ll want to bring the following

Camera

You want to be able to capture all the fun you’re having. By taking pictures, you will be able to remember your trip for years to come.

Sun screen

Most of the day you will be outside. Even if it doesn’t seem so sunny, it’s important to bring sunscreen and make sure everyone puts it on. This is especially important for children.

Something to keep the kids entertained on the drive there.

If it takes you a while to get where you’re going, be sure to bring something to help keep the kids entertained in the car. This will make the journey smoother and you’ll be in a better mood once you reach your destination.

· A stroller for the little ones.

When there’s a lot of walking to do, a stroller is nice, so you don’t have to worry about carrying the kids around all day.

Cash

These days, most places accept debit and credit cards, but it’s important to have a backup. You may run into small vendors that don’t or the machines may even crash, but if you have cash to back up, you won’t have to worry about this.

Mini first aid kit

There should be at least one person in a group that has some sort of mini first aid kit. This should include at least Band-Aids, Tylenol, and Neosporin. A headache is the last thing you want to have, when you have a lot of wrinkles that you want to keep going.

A mesh bag for swimming.

A mesh bag that you can put on your back is more practical than a handbag when you are in a park. You can put more stuff on it, both guys and girls can wear them, and you don’t have to worry about one shoulder starting to hurt from all the weight on one side.

What to bring to the water park?

Kids

swim diaper

All children still in diapers should wear swim diapers. I know there are chemicals in the pool, but that shouldn’t make a difference. Putting the right diaper on your child is the right thing to do. No one wants to have to worry about floats while they’re in the water.

Lifejacket

If the child or children you are with are non-swimmers or poor swimmers, you need to make sure you take the proper safety precautions. This includes a life jacket or any other buoyant device.

Sandals / Water Shoes

Children tend not to pay attention to where they are walking. To prevent them from getting into something you might find gross, it’s a good idea to bring them sandals or water shoes. You don’t want to bring regular shoes that you have to wear socks with, these can become uncomfortable if they get wet and start to smell bad. In the water park, the concrete is also hot if it is not covered by the sun or wet. Some children may have a lower tolerance for pain; therefore, they will not be able to handle it. If you don’t want to have to worry about carrying your child or children with you when they’re not in the water, it’s a good idea to make sure they have something on their feet.

Swimsuits

Children must wear the appropriate swimsuit when in the park. Many parks will not allow children to enter the park if they are dressed in normal clothing. It’s okay to leave them on like a clean t-shirt if you’re afraid they’ll burn, but other than that you should stick to clothing that was meant to be worn in the water.

Set of dry clothes to change into

It’s good to bring dry clothes to change into after the day is done, especially if you’ll be spending more time in your car. After a long day outside, kids will most likely be exhausted and tired by the time they get to the car. You want to make sure they are as comfortable as possible to keep moodiness to a minimum.

Adults

Appropriate swimsuit

It is VERY important that adults bring real swimsuits to wear in the water park. No one wants to see someone walking around in a bra and underwear or boxers. There’s a reason it’s a separate swimwear line, so use it! Also make sure it fits properly. Most people don’t want to be able to see anything hanging or coming out! This is a family park and you have to remember that there are children walking around.

Flip flops

Be sure to bring sandals or water shoes to wear in and out of the park. Tennis shoes can be a bummer because most of the areas you go to contain water, so your feet are likely to get wet. You don’t want to have wet feet stuck in your tennis shoes. This is uncomfortable and smells bad!

clothes to change

It’s good to have a set of dry clothes to change into when you leave the park. That way, if you decide to stop anywhere before reaching your final destination for the night, you don’t have to worry about what you’re wearing.

Towels

Make sure you have towels for everyone in the family. At some point everyone will want to dry off. They are also nice to lie on the beach chairs to reserve their spots. This way, your family will have a place to come back to throughout the day if they want to take a break. This also makes it easier to find people during the day.

What to bring to the theme/amusement parks

Children / Adults

Comfortable clothes

Although you will be doing different types of movement throughout the day, you should avoid wearing stiff clothing. You may even end up getting wet from one of the wrinkles, so avoid wearing dark underwear under light clothes and anything you don’t want to get wet.

Comfortable shoe

Most trips to an amusement park or theme park contain a lot of walking. This makes wearing comfortable shoes very important. You want to avoid any type of shoe that can cause blisters and any shoe you don’t want to get dirty. Your best bet is to choose a comfortable tennis shoe or sandal that you know you can wear all day.
