Family getaway to Oahu

Many people think of Hawaii and imagine romance and exotic drinks, but Oahu has something for everyone. In fact, Hawaii is a great place for family getaways, and kids can find many reasons to enjoy Hawaii. And one of the best places to take with the family is the island of Oahu.

Home to the famous Waikiki Beach and the city of Honolulu, Oahu is one of the most visited Hawaiian Islands. And there is a lot to do with the family if you look in the right places.

Explore Oahu’s History – If you and your family love history, you’ll be happy to know that Oahu has many historic places to explore. Not only is it the island where the Pearl Harbor attacks occurred, but several historical monuments and markers spell out the details of that day.

Or take the family to the peaceful Nu’uanu Pali, a vital step from ancient times used by settlers who formed villages in the area and populated the Nu’uanu Valley for a thousand years. The Falls of Clyde is a family favorite as she is the only surviving fully equipped four-masted sailboat left in the world.

Fun in the Sun – Be sure to enjoy the spectacular sun and white sand beaches with the whole family. The lagoons of Ko Olina also offer spectacular views with picnic areas, showers, a food stand, and a sand and reef area. If you want to be a little more adventurous, the lagoons also offer mammal watching, such as whales and dolphins, and snorkeling. A lot of marine life has been seen in the lagoons.

Whether your family is the adventurous type … or more laid back looking for long hikes through the hills and a beach to sit back and relax, you will find it on Oahu.

Just for kids (of all ages): Finally, a family vacation isn’t complete without some exclusive kid-friendly activities. And there is a lot to do for the children. The Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, and the nearly two-mile maze of gardens at Dole Plantation are just a few of the activities kids love. You may find that taking your children to Hawaii with you is more fun than you thought. When your vacation is over, you will see that they can bring out the child in you.

Oahu has a lot to enjoy for adults on vacation alone, but when the kids are with you, you’ll find even more to explore.
