Solving Office Boredom: Free Online Text Games

There are not many games you can play at the office. For starters, office computers often have low to medium specs, and unless the computer is used specifically for graphic or sound design, there will be no dedicated graphics or sound cards in the computer. Then there is the problem that any game you play will be quickly and easily detected by anyone passing by your PC.

The solution? Web or browser based games. There are many such games and unfortunately many of them try to fix their own websites in an attempt to “look flashy”; this does not help us office workers as we will usually need something with a plain white background. almost no graphics and plain text on the screen to go unnoticed by anyone passing our computer screens.

One of those games that many office workers play flawlessly, and that doesn’t stand out, is Bushtarion. It’s free to play, with optional “fun extras” that players can purchase (completely optional). Not only that, but there is a fully customizable “scheme editor” to customize all the colors and layout of your game. You can also explore the schematics of other players. One of the newer schemes I have noticed is called “Work”, which has an Excel spreadsheet as the background image; it is incredibly difficult for any employee to realize that you are playing a game unless they sit next to you and read the screen. ! It does not use Java or Flash, etc. It can be played in any modern web browser without any special add-ons or downloads.

Of course, there are many other web / browser-based games that are text-based, but almost all include “spaceships” or “gangsters” and for some reason they all have brightly colored backgrounds or black backgrounds that are would stand out for a mile. in any office environment.

So next time you have a few free minutes, Google a “free online web game” or similar, or sign up for Bushtarion. Good luck with your Office getaways and remember: try to do Some real work from time to time between ticks!
